THE MIND WAR

By Phyllis Evans
An overview of three major mindsets

In a world with so many different personalities and backgrounds there are also just as many mindsets on different issues and subjects.  While this would present a huge discussion to tackle, I would like to narrow things down a bit.  Mindsets can be categorized into three basic groups.  All of our mindsets fit into one of these groups.

Dr. Robert Heidler teaches in detail three basic mindset categories in the Issachar School with Glory of Zion International at Global Spheres.  The three basic mindset categories in the Bible are Barbaric, Greek, and Hebrew.  Rom. 1:14-17  14.  I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.  15.  So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.  16.  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.  17.  For in the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written "The just shall live by faith."

The operational principal of the Barbarian mindset is fear.  Examples of that are rule through dictatorship, terrorism, oppression and fear.  If you expose people to fear you can control them.  Fear is Satan's primary tool to hold people in bondage.  There are those in the church who operate with a barbaric mindset through manipulation and control.  God wants you to know that you have a loving Heavenly Father who cares for you and does not control through fear or fear tactics.

The Greek mindset worships man and the intellect of man.  The Greeks created their gods in the form of man.  Their gods were morally depraved and foolish.   The operating principal of the Greek mindset is pride.  Pride operates through human reason and intellect.  A spirit of pride believes the human mind is capable of understanding everything, "Knowledge is Power". This mindset brought the church to a quest to figure out God.  God wants to remove our faith in human intellect.  Apart from Him we can do nothing!  Much of the Christian church has a Greek mindset.  Many reject the supernatural realm of God because they cannot explain a supernatural God with their intellect.

The Hebrew mindset is a biblical mindset (Rom.12- Don't be conformed to this world).  The Hebrew mind responds to God in obeying, serving and loving Him.  The Hebrew thinker does not seek to understand God, but to learn how to please Him.  The Jews knew the inferior human mind would never understand the all powerful, mighty God of the universe.  The Hebrew mindset is in AWE of God.  Moses for example wanted to see God's glory!  He asked the Lord to let him see His glory.  The Hebrew mindset is one of destiny and the supernatural intervention of God in men's lives.  The Hebrew mindset is one of faith in God not fear, it will trust God and not be afraid.  His favor leads to joy, prosperity, health and abundant blessings.

The Hebrew mindset was honored and embraced in our country, the USA in years past.  Now days, our country as have others have embraced the Greek and even the Barbaric mindsets!  Pagan cults have sprung up all over the world.  It is no different in the USA.  Prayer is outlawed at events that are school related.  Many educators have been secularized in their method of teaching.  Our country has used fear to keep these educators in check. (Barbaric/Greek)  It is time for Christian believers to take back ground the enemy has stolen through intercession and action as Holy Spirit leads.

In conclusion, the Hebrew mindset has a focus on God and family.   Deuteronomy 6:5-7  5.  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  6.  And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.  7.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Through an understanding of these three mindsets we can understand in a greater way how to cooperate with Holy Spirit to move into maturity in the Christian life.

One final thought; as you press into God's word you are made clean through the washing, transforming revelation you receive.  Let God speak to you through His word and transform you through the renewing of your mind.

God desires your success and to do you good all the days of your life!
